What are Realms?
One of Bastion’s main differentiating product features is Isolated Realms. Realms enable full-stack customizability of asset parameters, acts as a sandbox for experimentation with innovative oracle and interest-rate mechanisms, broaden the horizon for DAO-To-DAO partnerships with Bastion, and allows us to list the long-tail of assets. Isolated pools are separate lending markets which support a set of assets that can be used as collateral to borrow loans against each other.
Despite all the immense net-positive advantages of risk isolation, our Realms feature has a single weakness: liquidity fragmentation. Users are not be able to directly collateralize and borrow assets from the Main Hub and the Aurora Realm. Bastion remedies this by having USDC in all our Realms, creating a common currency of exchange between all the Realms whilst still containing value-at-risk to the isolated pool rather than the entire TVL of the protocol.
